- Turner and the Masters - exhibition

Influences of a great painter.
Organised in conjuction with the Tate Britain in London, and the Grand Palais in Paris, where the exhibition has already toured, the Prado now presents "Turner and the Masters".
Reuniting the work of prestigious painters such as Canaletto, Claude, Poussin, Rembrandt, Reubens, Titian and Constable, this exhibition puts Turner's work in context, exploring his artistic predecessors and how he interpreted and built on their examples.
William Turner built his reputation on his great mastery of the medium of oil painting, and his art owes much to his artistic rivalry with Constable and Bonington, who were to push him to achieve hitherto unsurpassed hights of excellence.
